Why is STEM important?

EDHeads This website has simulations, lesson plans, and many teacher resources for Science and Math. Excellent website. I highly recommend the "Design a Cell Phone" activity.

PhET: Free Online Simulations This is a collection of physics, chemistry, biology, and math simulations. It is organized by the University of Colorado at Boulder.

WIX: Website Creator This will allow students to build websites without needing to code. Perhaps they could make a website dedicated to sharing what they have learned in your class.

Gamestar Mechanic Let's face it, kids love video games (so do I). This website provides students with the basics of game design, and they can create a game themselves. I think there is great possibility for this in a science or math course.

Worcester Polytechnic Institute A collection of STEM resources for parents, students, and teachers. WPI is a world renowned university for science and technology.

Engineering is Elementary This page has a collection of science activities that encourage elementary students to develop engineering skills.

Games Learning Society: Fantastic collection of games that teach students important concepts along the way.

Teach Engineering A collection of grade level activities that will teach students about engineering. K-12.

Graphite.Org
This website categorizes science resources according to apps, games/simulations, or websites. You can also search for free or paid resources. All resources are rated and vetted for effectiveness.

Timetoast A great flash based timeline program. Has a free account option. Very easy to use! Can add descriptions to events and even add in links or pictures

MineCraftEDU Minecraft is an extremely popular open world computer game. This game allows students to create fully interactive worlds and modify their surroundings. Minecraft EDU has been specfically designed for classroom use. Teachers of STEM, and even Social Studies and English, have been using Minecraft in their curriculum. Check it out for ideas on how to incorporate this great simulation into your curriculum.
